Easter People

"Do not abandon yourselves to despair. We are the Easter people and hallelujah is our song."
Pope John Paul II

I found this quote last week and it really resonated with me. It made me think of the times I have thought that God just was not there. Though I don't think I have ever been in despair I have definitely felt abandoned and left to fend for myself. In those times my faith reminded me that God was with me, God is on my side, God loves me...but my prayer would often be "I believe Lord, help my disbelief."

But we are an Easter People! Our suffering has a purpose. It is not in vain. United with Christ the veil is torn and we are able to be with the Father which is the longing of my heart.

I wish now I would have been a better at taking advantage of the Lenten season but my laziness got the best of me at times. But during this Holy Week I am going to try and be open to all the richness the Church offers in reminding us of the life, suffering and death of Christ. This way when Sunday comes I will be ready to say with gratitude and hope, "Alleluia!"
