The Blizzard of '06 - Part Deux

So the "Dwyer Blizzard Experience" started the Sunday after Thanksgiving ... with 4 - 6 inches of snow on the ground in Yakima on the same morning my son had to drive to Pullman, my husband and I had to get our daughter to Lacey, and my sister and her family had to get home to Missoula.

To spare you all the gory details of long hours on the road and bad winter driving conditions, let me just say that my son ended up in a ditch before finally ending up in Pullman (no permanent damage to man or vehicle), my daughter ended up in her dorm at St. Martin's, my husband and I ended up with just enough momentum in our little Mitsubishi to keep going up Snoqualmie Pass (rather than sliding downwards at a sideways angle), and my sister and her family ended up in Coeur d' Alene for the night! Cell phones were put to good use by all of us and by Monday afternoon everything was as it should be.

... By Tuesday morning, my parents were on their way to sunny Palm Springs, CA for the remainder of the winter. Now they really know how to live!
